Friday night at exactly 9 o'clock, I was sitting at home, bored out of my mind when Kelly called me. She suggested that I drive to Denton to see her and Evil. 5 minutes later, I was on the road. 4 hours later, I was on her doorstep. I pride myself on being impulsive. We went to a party. We also got a few 'whoops' from guys in passing trucks. They weren't construction workers or hobos either. Nice.
The next morning, Evil and I met Jubal, Lauren, Marshall, and Grizz at 6 Flags. We got season passes for the price of our regular one day pass because we live relatively far away. Friggin' sweet. They don't expire until 2009, so we'll have to take advantage of them. Also, we got the Flash Pass, so we got to skip the lines. Double sweet.
Funny story: While at the park, Lauren decided that she wanted to see the Spongebob 3-D simulation movie. We all accepted and headed over to Loony Tunes USA to begin our wait. During said wait, we were forced to listen (but chose to watch) the worst "rock" show pretty much ever (complete with self-loathing cast...with the exception of a few members who were ever-so-proud of themselves), go stand in a warehouse that smelt of sweat-ridden socks and unwashed hair, and watch a strange cartoon that made no sense what-so-ever. We finally enter the theatre, and because Marshall skipped this one and the seats held 2 people each, I was the odd man out and got to sit with a rather large mexican woman. I was uncomfortable, but wasn't bothered...not until the movie started that is. She and I buckled up for one great shudder of our seat, which remained immobile for the remainder of the movie. I laughed a lot at first, because every other person in the theatre was having a blast in their seats, jerking them this way and that. Then I got kind of bored, took off my glasses, and realized that I was simply watching a blurry children's video. It was at the end of the movie that my experience really climaxed. I returned the glasses to my face for the last 10 seconds of the flick, to see some unidentifiable sea creature eat a pickle, expand tremendously due to allergies, and then explode, at which point, the entire audience got sprayed with water. So to sum it up: I watched a cheesy rock show that reminded me of High School Musical (but 20 years later, when they're all washed out), stood in a holding cell that smelt of a boys' locker room, sat next to a a chubby stranger in the one chair that didn't work while watching a cartoon, and then to top it all off, i got sprayed in the face with water. Faaantastic. It was so comforting that Grizz and Evil were hardly watching the movie, considering they were more focused on my lacking thrill, and laughing hysterically because of it.
Moving on, Courtney and Kelsey + family met us there later that night, which was a blast. We stayed there until 10, headed over to the hotel, ordered a pizza, and played Low High Red Black for 5 hours. I'll repeat, 5 hours. We apparently never tire of something even slightly amusing.
The next morning, I woke up to the most irritating alarm clock I have ever experienced. In my frustration, I began hitting the box, elbowing Grizz in the process, and repeating in my most pitiful of voices, "How do you turn it off?!"
Evil and I went back to Denton, I hung out with Kelly for a few hours at a coffee house and the used bookstore she works at, and then I went to try on halloween costumes and have a late lunch/early dinner ("Linner", if you will...or "Dunch") with Courtney, Kelsey, Ayden, Jeanene, and Eric. Afterwards, I began my trip back to Sville, during which I got some pretty poopy news and cried most of my way home.
Side note: it's the first time i've been able to cry about something in my life, and not just a movie, in over 2 years. Luckily, I have some great friends who rented some movies, made me laugh, and Grizz let me sleep on his couch.
Today, I finally get to shave my legs, which I didn't get to do while in the Metroplex, and go watch the boys play soccer, which is always entertaining.
