Soo….Just Kidding!

So guess who didn’t get on the plane? That’d be me. My gut was telling me not to leave. As the date approached, the feeling intensified. I felt so guilty for abandoning Tyler. I just can’t leave him here alone. His birthday is next month, followed by Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. The kids would be sad and I would be reneging on my word. And truthfully, I would be sad. I have grown to like China, despite the fact that I’m incessantly stared at and companioned by the daily illness. So, I resolve to just drink more water, toughen up, and stick it out. It will give me more material for the book that I’m writing, too. (Always a plus). I am bummed that I won’t be seeing my family, friends, and the food I love so much until February, but I can make it three more months.

In other news, I was a model for a local photo agency. It was a hoot. I was taking cues from a man who dictated in Chinese...and some of the poses were ludicrous! I’m not skinny enough to be a model or Chinese, so one of the dresses was held together by safety pins. Definitely felt a boost in self confidence there. The greatest part had to be when the photographer would come over and demonstrate what he wanted, complete with “dainty hands” and batting eyelashes.

The Fickle Fool,
Beth

  6. Oh god. I didn't get to read about everything that happened until just now. Midterms hit, followed by finals, and since then it's been a whirlwind - much like your travels. I'm so sorry about the disappointments. There will be hugs when you get back.
